The Civil Status Certificate is an official document issued by the local Italian Municipality (“Comune”). It confirms an individual’s current marital status, such as single or married, and includes their essential personal details.

Validity and requirements

The Civil Status Certificate has a legal validity of 6 months and can be requested from any Municipality in Italy, regardless of the applicant’s place of residence.
To submit the request, you will need:

  • full name of the person concerned
  • date and place of birth
  • Municipality of residence

Important notice regarding missing records

In some cases, the individual’s information may not be available in the Registry Office archives, for example if they have moved abroad. If the records are not found, the certificate cannot be issued.

Some Registry Offices may require a written authorization (proxy) together with a copy of the ID of the person concerned.

How long will it take to receive my certificate?

Most digital certificates are sent by email within a few days after we receive the completed delegation form together with the identity document. For documents that require sending the original paper copy, the processing time depends on the shipping service selected.

How will I receive the requested document?
You will receive the certificate in PDF format directly at the email address provided in the order form. If you requested the original paper copy, it will be delivered by courier to the specified shipping address.
What happens if the information provided is incorrect

Our team reviews all the information you provide. If any missing or inconsistent data emerges that could prevent the document from being issued, our customer service will contact you promptly to correct the information together and complete the procedure without delays.

If the request is submitted correctly but the competent authority rejects it, we will retain only a portion of the amount paid to cover the costs already incurred.

No. Ufficio Certificati does not issue or sell registry certificates.
